Educational Qualification/RRB ALP Recruitment 2026

Matriculation/SSLC + ITI: 
You must have passed 10th or its equivalent plus an ITI certificate from NCVT/SCVT in a relevant trade such as Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic (Diesel/Motor Vehicle), Electronics Mechanic, Wireman, Turner, Machinist, etc..
Matriculation/SSLC + Act Apprenticeship: 
Completion of an apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above is also valid.
Matriculation/SSLC + Diploma in Engineering (3 years) in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering.
Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in the above-mentioned disciplines is also accepted in lieu of a Diploma

How to Apply/RRB ALP Recruitment 2026

1. Visit the Official Website:
 Go to the centralized application portal for this recruitment: https://www.rrbapply.gov.inNote: This is the only mode of application; no other forms will be accepted.
2. New Registration: 
Click on the “New Registration” link for CEN 01/2026.
3. Fill Details: 
Enter your basic details like name, date of birth, father’s name, etc. (Make sure they match your Aadhaar and 10th certificate).
4. RRB Selection: 
Carefully select the RRB you wish to apply to. Remember, you can apply to only one RRB, and your choice is final.
5. Upload Documents: 
Upload your recent photograph and signature in the specified format and size.
6. Capture Live Photo: 
Note that the application module will require you to take a live photograph using a webcam instead of uploading an old photo.
7. Pay Fee: 
Proceed to pay the application fee online using your preferred method (Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI).
8. Submit and Print:
 Review all details carefully, submit the form, and take a printout of the completed application for your records.

Selection Process & Examination Phases/RRB ALP Recruitment 2026

1. CBT 1 (Computer-Based Test 1): 
This is a screening test to shortlist candidates for the next round.
2. CBT 2 (Computer-Based Test 2):
 This is the main merit-based exam, comprising Part A and Part B.
3. CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test):
 A mandatory aptitude test for ALP applicants.
4. Document Verification (DV) & Medical Examination (ME):
 The final stage for the chosen candidates.

Phase 2: CBT-2 (Main Exam)

Part-A (100 Questions, 90 Minutes)
• Subjects: Mathematics, Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering.
• Marks from this part will be used to shortlist candidates for the next stage.
Part-B (75 Questions, 60 Minutes)
• This is a qualifying part based on the specific trade you have studied (e.g., Fitter, Electrician).
• You must secure a minimum of 35% marks to pass Part-B.
Total for CBT-2: 175 Questions, 150 Minutes.

Pay Scale & Benefits/RRB ALP Recruitment 2026

Pay Level: Level 2 under the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Basic Pay: ₹19,900/- per month.
Salary Progression: The pay scale is ₹19,900 – ₹63,200.
Approximate In-Hand Salary: Starting from around ₹32,000 to ₹38,000 per month after adding allowances like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), etc

1. Can I apply for more than one RRB?

No, each candidate can apply to only one RRB. Applying for multiple RRBs will lead to the rejection of your application

2. Is there any negative marking in the RRB ALP exam?

Yes, both CBT-1 and CBT-2 have a negative marking of 1/3rd (0.33) mark for each wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for the CBAT (Aptitude Test)

3. I am a final-year diploma student. Can I apply?

No, candidates who are awaiting their final semester results are not eligible to apply

4. What happens to my application fee if I am not shortlisted?

The fee is not refunded if you don’t appear for the CBT-1. However, if you appear for CBT-1, you will receive a refund as per the rules: ₹400 for General/OBC and ₹250 for other categories

5. What is the qualifying percentage in CBT-1?

As a benchmark, the expected qualifying marks are: UR & EWS: 40%OBC: 30%SC: 30%ST: 25%. These can vary as per the final notification

6. Do I need to submit any documents at the time of online application?

No, you only need to upload your photograph and signature. However, you must keep all your original documents ready for verification later.

7. Can I wear glasses during the medical examination?

The vision requirement is 6/6, 6/6 without glasses. The fogging test will be conducted, and you must pass it without corrective lenses, including glasses

8. Is there any provision for correcting mistakes in my application after submission?

Yes, RRB provides a “Modification Window” for candidates to correct errors. For CEN 01/2026, the modification window is from 17th June to 26th June 2026. A fee may be charged for this.
